Cassie Steele Talks Growing Up With Drake With Complex
Complex recently caught up with Cassie Steele for an exclusive interview about her new role in L.A. Complex. If that name doesn’t ring a bell, many of you may know her as Manny Santos from Degrassi. During the interview Complex asked Cassie about whether or not she and Drake are still in contact and also about any possible collaborations musically. Check the excerpt below. My how time passes.
Are you still in contact with Drake?“He’s like the epitome of an example of somebody that’s just too busy for anything. He’s had major success, we’re all so proud of him, and he’s on a tour in Europe right now. I would love to have a coffee with him, but by the time I get there, I’m sure he’d be across the world.”
You also have a music career, so was a collaboration with him something you’ve ever thought about? Has it ever come up?“I mean, yeah, sure! It kind of feels like he was like my big brother growing up. I’ve known him since I was like 11 years old. Obviously, there’s a ton of admiration for somebody when you’re that age and Aubrey was a few years older than me. When you’re 11, that’s a lot, that’s like a decade. It’s like, “Whoa you know so much about so many things!”
“He’s so talented and it’s not like he just bought it. He was always like that. He was always working on music and I think that’s something that anybody who is trying to make it in the industry should really take note of. He was working on it since—I can’t even remember. It’s something I’ve always thought of him doing or that he was doing.”

Drake Talks Third Album And Upcoming Leg Of The CP Tour
Fresh off the release of Take Care back in November, Drake has already started recording his third studio album. Thats right already! Drake told Billboard that he in fact plans to release some new music for us to vibe to on the upcoming tour. He also admitted that Take Care was a “down” album and that he is taking a new route for the new album. After the jump you can read what Drake had to say about his third album and the upcoming tour. His junior and senior will only be meaner! Take Care.
On How His Third Album Will Differ From Take Care: “I think my mood will be reflected in the tempos I choose for the music. A lot of ‘Take Care,’ it’s down… and I think a lot of it had to do with being back in Toronto, getting reacquainted with the life I had before (fame) and difficulties with that, and at the same time trying to express excitement, express joy… ”
“Now I’m in a very, very, very, very different place than I’ve ever been, really focused on myself, really focused on my health, my body, my mind, really wanting to be the best I can possibly be…I’m in a different mindset now that I’m very proud of… It’s going to be a very interesting album — probably, to be honest with you, conceptually one of the most exciting projects I’ve worked on, just ’cause there’s so many new things going on in my life.” On The Upcoming US Leg Of The Club Paradise Tour: “I don’t want it to feel like a bunch of opening acts and then the headliner. With the stage, every act that comes out, something about the stage changes… It’s going to keep people’s attention. It’s going to be an energetic and very interesting evening for sure.”
“I know a lot of these guys very well; not only am I a fan of their music, but I have very strong alliances with these guys. I guess it’s safe to say now that anybody I didn’t have a song with before I have a song with now. I made sure of that. I want to go out on the tour with the most exciting artists right now and I want to make sure I have songs all of them.” That includes Rick Ross’ “Stay Schemin’,” which Drake and Montana feature on, and Waka’s “Round of Applause.” Drake also promised, without getting specific, that “fans are going to get some exciting new musical material that will probably end up dropping a few days before the tour, so we can play them on the tour, which was really my concept.”
“If we start getting really into and start vibing, maybe the last few nights it’s a collaboration show. Maybe we do all our songs on the stage together, making exciting moments for people that are not just about seeing all of us individually.”
